According to AutoWeek, nearly 800,000 late model vehicles from GM are likely to need more frequent oil changes due to a worn-out balance chain. Warning lights in some Chevrolet Equinox, GMC Terrain, Buick LaCrosse and Buick Regal models need to be reprogrammed, and recommended for more frequent oil changes. This gives dealers and service departments an extra reason to remind customers to come in for service, and fix a seriously car- and value-killing fault for recent models.
