Chrysler minivans set records as North American auto sales boom, from The Windsor Star.
The Windsor-built Chrysler Town and Country was the top-selling minivan in the United States last year, and helped Fiat Chrysler post record-setting sales on both sides of the border.
FCA US said Monday its U.S. sales rose 20 per cent last month compared to December 2013, while demand in Canada soared 40 per cent.
Full-year industry sales in the U.S. reached 16.44 million last year, up 5.8 per cent from 2013, while Canadian sales rose 6.1 per cent to more than 1.84 million.
“Vehicle sales were unbelievably strong in 2014,” said David Adams, president of the Global Automakers of Canada. “Consumer confidence also rebounded nicely in December for the first time since August, and when you combine that with low gas prices, and very attractive year-end manufacturers’ sales and financing, it is no wonder the year ended with a bang.”
