(HaberIndeks) – Großköllnbach – CSP GmbH & Co. KG now presents a new, convenient configuration wizard for the database archiving solution Chronos. The wizard enables users of Chronos to now configure the export of old data from productive databases even easier and quicker. The database archiving options are explained in detail in the wizard’s step by step instructions. It was previously only possible to enter the archive settings in an expert view, for which SQL knowledge was, however, required. Users of the expert view can now additionally check whether the SQL statements they have entered function as intended. Interested parties and users of Chronos can learn more and see the easy configuration options in Chronos for themselves in a free web seminar. The date of the web seminar and a registration form are available here: http://webinare.csp-sw.de
In principle, numerous individual settings can be made in Chronos for regular database archiving. The administrator or user configures in this way, for example, which time cycles should be used to archive which data and when the first archive should be created. With regards to the starting point, the software now searches for the first entry in the database thanks to this new functionality and asks whether the archive should be completed from this point onwards or if another point in time is to be defined. A variety of new useful settings have been added in the configuration wizard, such as sorting options for the data to be archived. In the final configuration step, the wizard always presents an overview of the changes that the user has entered. It is also possible at any time to go back a step and change the settings once again. Last but not least, the application offers a settings option for defining how much data should remain in the productive database after the archiving process has been completed. The advantage here is that the user can easily recognise the current status of the application at any time during the archiving process. A major benefit for administrators who wish to completely shut down their database is the easy configuration option for application retirement: This is now possible with just one click.
“The new wizard now enables Chronos users to configure their archiving processes much more quickly. As a result of the simple instructions, users are guided step by step through the setting options. Knowledge of SQL is now no longer required. The easy handling of the application ensures that the databases can be archived reliably and as planned, while no questions relating to the archiving process remain unanswered”, emphasizes Kilian Götz, Product manager for Database Archiving, to point out the benefits. Companies who archive their databases using the standard software Chronos benefit from significantly lower memory capacity requirement for their productive databases and, therefore, from a very quick return on their investment. The inactive or rarely needed data is archived on economical storage media. In the process, compliance regulations can be reliably fulfilled because the legally relevant data is also made available by Chronos over the long-term in an audit-proof way. The databases can also be restored at any time – even if the database schemas have been changed in the meantime. Even semantic changes are taken into account when restoring the databases.
