VW recalling 80,000 Tiguan SUVs and Jetta Hybrids, according to The Detroit News.
Volkswagen AG is recalling more than 80,000 vehicles in North America for electrical issues.
The German automaker told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration it is issuing two new recalls for separate electrical issues, including more than 78,000 2009-2011 Tiguan SUVs in the United States and Canada because a fuse may overheat and melt that could cause a partial loss of exterior lighting.
Owners will be notified next month and dealers will replace the fuse with an upgraded version. The recall includes 62,155 Tiguan SUVs in the United States and 16,235 in Canada.
Earlier this month, NHTSA opened an investigation into 61,000 Tiguan SUVs because of complaints about exterior lights. Agency officials said they received 26 complaints about partial or complete loss of exterior lights in the 2009-11 VW Tiguan.
