Rydell Auto Group, Subaru of Hayward, Jack McGee Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac: Dealership Deals

Published: July 18, 2025

Tom Dinsdale Chevrolet GMC Cadillac and Tom Dinsdale Hyundai Acquired by Rydell Auto Group

Tom Dinsdale Chevrolet GMC Cadillac and Tom Dinsdale Hyundai have officially been acquired by Rydell Auto Group, in a deal advised by Haig Partners. The dealerships, located in Grand Island, NE, will now operate under the unified name of Grand Island Motor Company. This change already took effect on June 25, 2025. The sale signals a new chapter for the Dinsdale family as they exit the automotive retail business. Tom Dinsdale Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram was previously sold to Hastings Automotive Group in April.

“It was not an easy decision to sell. But it made sense at this point for myself and my family to retire,” said Tom Dinsdale. “I will forever be proud of the group I built and want to thank my teammates for their many years of dutiful service. I know my former employees and neighbors in Grand Island and Hastings are in excellent hands.”

Rydell have committed to retaining the existing team as part of their community-focused business model. Grand Island Motor Company aims to differentiate itself through a customer-centric approach, emphasizing transparent pricing, fair trade-in valuations, and a stress-free buying process facilitated by non-commissioned product specialists. The company also features certified technicians capable of handling all maintenance and repair needs.

“We are excited to serve the Grand Island community and give them a relaxed, hassle-free buying experience from start to finish,” said Executive Manager Weston Abbott. “With an extensive inventory of new and pre-owned vehicles, we will strive to only provide the best for our customers and all at one low price, plain and simple, always!”

Dave Cantin Group Facilitates Sale of Audi West Covina and Subaru of Hayward

The Dave Cantin Group recently announced the successful completion of two high-profile dealership transactions in California, highlighting growing momentum in the automotive mergers and acquisitions market. The transactions involved the sale of Audi West Covina and Subaru of Hayward, marking strategic shifts in ownership for both dealerships.

Audi West Covina, previously owned by Envision Motors, was acquired by Grace Motorcars and Victor Oh. Similarly, Subaru of Hayward, formerly One Subaru and owned by Brian and Devin McCafferty, is now under the management of Uwe and Chris Waizenegger of Mercedes-Benz of Pleasanton. The DCG team played a critical role in navigating complex deal terms, ensuring smooth transitions for both buyers and sellers.

“California is seeing an uptick of interest from the industry and there’s some pending legislation which will make the state much more attractive,” Dave Cantin Group CEO Dave Cantin said. “Each of these California closings required navigating different dynamics, from OEM right-of-first-refusal provisions to complex family partnerships and strategic divestitures. Our team’s ability to deliver trusted counsel and smart strategy is what helps us continue to drive meaningful outcomes for our clients.”

The Audi West Covina sale signals further alignment in Envision Motors’ long term portfolio strategy amid changing market dynamics in the luxury segment. On the other hand, the Subaru of Hayward acquisition provides the new owners with the opportunity to strengthen their presence in the competitive Bay Area market.

Jack McGee Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac Sold to Harwood Auto Group

Harwood Auto Group has acquired Jack McGee Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac in a transaction facilitated by Rob Armstrong of Performance Brokerage Services. Founded in 1963 by Jack McGee, the family-owned dealership has long been a fixture in Peterborough’s automotive industry serving the community for the last 60 years. David and J.R. McGee, who have managed the dealership for the past 25 years, made the difficult decision to sell the business. All while making sure the process honored their family’s legacy.

“From the very beginning, it was clear that David and J.R. were approaching this transition with deep thought and care,” said Rob Armstrong, Senior Partner at the Canadian headquarters of Performance Brokerage Services. “Selling a dealership that’s been in the family for more than 60 years is never just a business decision—it’s personal. We’re not just here to broker a deal; we’re here to protect legacies and guide our clients through one of the most important milestones of their lives.”

The Harwood Auto Group, led by Bill Campbell, Rory Campbell, and Curtis Clifford, adds Jack McGee Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac to its portfolio, which includes locations across Cobourg, Haliburton, and Parry Sound. Expressing gratitude towards the McGee family, Harwood leadership emphasized their commitment to maintaining the dealership’s proud legacy while bringing fresh energy to the operation. The dealership remains operational at its historic location on Clonsilla Avenue, continuing to serve the community with leading automotive brands and customer-focused service.
